Manchester City began their Premier League campaign on Monday night with a 4-0 demolition of newly promoted Swansea City where new boy Sergio Aguero was the star of the show with two goals.

Following the win, bet365 cut City to 3/1 (from 7/2) for the title and slashed Aguero odds on finishing top goalscorer to 4/1 with the Argentine having been 14/1 before Monday night’s game.

‘Even after a thirty minute showing as a 2nd half substitute we were scrambling to cut the 14/1 about Aguero – and they say he’s not yet up to speed. The thought of David Silva producing the ammunition for Aguero is frightening, and with the prospect of the £38m man also being on penalty duty, we had no choice but to make him favourite’ said bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth.

With Aguero sure to become the new talisman of City, bet365 make Aguero 8/11 to score 18 or more Premier League goals and a 4/6 shot to outscore Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.

Swansea weren’t expected to take much from their away trip to the Eastlands but the Welsh side remain the firm favourites at 4/6, bet365,  in the betting for Premier League relegation.
